On November 5th, the Allures Yachting shipyard welcomed a delegation of officials to its assembly site in Cherbourg. Mister Benoît Arrivé, Mayor of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and the First Vice President of the Cotentin Agglomeration in charge of economic development, as well as his deputy Muriel Jozeau-Marigné, in charge of tourism, marinas, water sports and yachting, honored us with their presence.
The meeting was organized in the presence of representatives of the local and national press. The program included a visit to the shipyard and the inauguration of the new Allures 51.9, around a unit that (being in fact the second in this series) already is the object of significant commercial success.
The visit to the site, commented by Stéphan Constance, president of the Grand Large Yachting group and co-founder of Allures Yachting, was punctuated by a quick speech by Mr. Constance and Mr. Arrivé, both of whom are involved in the dynamism of local economy. The focus was on the growth dynamic of the Grand Large Yachting group, linked to a strong commercial success and requiring the recruitment of many new skills to strengthen the shipyard’s teams. The speakers also discussed the specific characteristics of the Cherbourg-en-Cotentin region, which has a high level of expertise in shipbuilding, but which is also under great pressure in the industrial job market.
Afterwards, those present – including several journalists and photographers – were able to visit the new Allures 51.9, a model that has become a new benchmark in the 50 to 55 foot aluminum ocean cruising yachts segment. The care taken in the construction and layout of the 51.9, but also the abundance of natural light and the management of the interior and exterior volumes of this unit, generating a strong impression of space and comfort, particularly impressed the visitors.
Finally, the Mayor, Mrs. Jozeau-Marigné and the journalists present had the pleasure of sharing a buffet lunch, which was an opportunity to exchange a few words with the co-founder of the shipyard as well as with Mr. Marc d’Arbigny, General Manager of Grand Large Yachting Manche Atlantique, and Mr. Cyrille Corlay, Sales Manager of Allures Yachting and Deputy General Manager of Grand Large Yachting Manche Atlantique in charge of development.
