Resistance: a major asset of aluminium hulls

If aluminium is used in both the aeronautical and automobile industries, for the construction of lifeboats and the most efficient military vessels, it owes its use to a unique combination of properties that have made it very logically a very popular choice for long-distance cruising boats.
What’s more, this material’s “recyclability” is more significant than ever, but it is above all its lightness combined with its resistance that have made it so successful for aluminium hull sailboats. Indeed, during a long blue water cruise, its ability to deform without breaking is an additional safety factor in the event of an encounter with a floating object or grounding, whether intentionally or otherwise.

Electrical safety: a reassuring guarantee on your aluminium hull sailboat

Aluminium’s natural resistance to corrosion is also exceptional, and it is only to preserve the perfect aesthetics of the shapes made by our master fabricators that our aluminium centreboard sailing yachts are varnished with epoxy.
In addition, thanks to a flawless electrical installation and leak-detecting alarms in the event of modifications or accidents, your aluminium hull is perfectly under control, and is the best guarantee of a serene long-distance cruise for you and your family – whether you are crossing the Atlantic or sailing around the world.

The choice of a composite deck for our blue water sailing yachts

As for our monohulls’ deck, it isn’t made of aluminium, because it is not going to be subject to impact and only needs mechanical resistance at specific points. Made of polyester, our composite deck has the advantage of:

  • better insulating you from extreme temperatures,
  • not generating condensation,
  • allowing more flexibility for the positioning of the fittings,
  • avoiding the maintenance of a deck paint, which is always tricky to keep immaculate on aluminium.

This advantage, coupled with the infinite possibilities of shapes offered by the use of a mould, is the assurance that your Allures aluminium hull sailboat will retain her incomparable elegance throughout her long career on your blue water cruising journey.
