Embark on three years of blue water cruising, at the heart of a program designed for those with a passion for freedom and distant horizons. With more than 30,000 nautical miles to cover and three oceans to cross, the World Odyssey is much more than a round-the-world voyage: it's an intense life experience of discovery, encounters and self-transcendence.

Designed to be accessible to all, this program relies on a close-knit community, ongoing technical support and safe navigation. There are two routes to choose from: the tropical route, following the trade winds, or the southern route, crossing the Strait of Magellan and Patagonia. The two routes meet up in Tahiti, where the fleet converges to continue the rest of the adventure together.

Testimonial

Left on board Fou de Bassanan Allures 51.9, Véronique and Dominique sailed around the world for three years. "We chose this boat for its sturdiness, its autonomy and its ability to take us anywhere. It never failed us, even in the most isolated corners. At every stopover, it was a real eye-catcher. But above all, it allowed us to live this dream to the end, as a family." And after 3 years, Dominique adds: "I'd take the same boat again! This boat is super comfortable, super safe, easier to handle than a catamaran, especially on long crossings and in harbors".

High Latitude Challenge, Jimmy Cornell's new event

Jimmy Cornell, the man behind the creation of the ARC transatlantic rallie just 40 years ago, is launching a new event aimed at all those wishing to explore high latitudes by joining up with other sailors: the High Latitude Challenge. Extreme routes are on the agenda, with Antarctica and the Northwest Passage as the main objectives!
2/4/2025
min

‍JimmyCornell, a regular at high latitudes

‍Thefamous explorer navigator knows all about the peculiarities of such destinations. On several occasions, he has sailed to these lands himself, including the successful completion of the Northwest Passage, from west to east, in 2015. In 1999, he had already visited Antarctica aboard his yacht at the time. He therefore planned this itinerary to reach the destinations in the right seasons, and to benefit as much as possible from favorable wind and weather conditions along the way. He also knows the most suitable ports for technical stopovers before venturing into these remote regions.

‍Aone-year clockwise loop

‍JimmyCornell thus plans a departure from Cherbourg in September 2026. The descent of the Atlantic will take in the Canaries, Cape Verde, Rio de Janeiro, Mar de Plata before reaching Ushuaia, to wait for the right window to cross the Drake and reach Antarctica, the first jewel of this course. As part of the preparations for the High Latitude Challenge, Jimmy Cornell will be hosting a series of webinars covering a wide range of practical issues, from weather forecasts to ice piloting, safety aspects and high latitude navigation techniques. Presentations will be given by experts in their field and sailors with first-hand experience of navigating to Antarctica or the Northwest Passage.

Allures 51.9 voted 'Best Full-Size Cruiser' by Cruising World

The American magazine Cruising World devoted a long article to theAllures 51.9, on the occasion of its visit to Annapolis during the US Sailboat Show. Put to the test after a demanding crossing of the "Viking Route" - Scotland, Iceland, Greenland, Canada - the sailboat impressed the jury with its robustness, comfort and sailing capabilities.

Journalist Herb McCormick describes the yacht as "both a solid offshore platform and a welcoming home", featuring exemplary aluminum construction, a protective and friendly cockpit, fluid deck circulation and a bright, refined interior. During trials in Chesapeake Bay, the boat confirmed its seaworthy qualities: speed, balance at the helm and silence on board thanks to the insulation of the hull.

At the end of these tests, theAllures 51.9 was voted "Best Full-Size Cruiser" 2025 by the Cruising World jury.

New

A new vintage for the Allures 51.9

Allures Yachting presents a new vintage of its flagship, theAllures 51.9, a 17m sailing yacht. Evolutions include a new hardtop design, a complementary range of rigs, and a new interior ambience. ‍
12/2/2025
min

Released in 2022, the descendant of the Allures 51 and 52, theAllures 51.9 perpetuates the 50-foot Allures concept of blue water cruising yachts, with a shaped aluminium hull, centerboarder and composite deck. Designed by Olivier Racoupeau, theAllures 51.9 is already a benchmark for blue water cruising yachts from 50 to 55 feet.

TheAllures 51.9 's nearly 6m-long cockpit impressed on launch. Farniente, reception, maneuvers, piloting, preparation for nautical activities - you can do it all in the greatest comfort, without disturbing each other. Not to mention the huge storage areas aft. Ideal for long-distance cruising!

The interior is characterized by a large central volume, with no bulkheads, featuring a large U-shaped galley, ideal for use at sea, a double-seated chart table and a voluminous saloon. At the stern, a wide, full-width cabin quickly won over owners, providing the space needed for long periods of comfortable life aboard. The bow includes a double cabin with bunk beds, a double cabin and a second bathroom.

Designed to visit the world

In June 2024, the first unit delivered returned to Brest from a 3-year round-the-world trip via the Tropics. On their return, the owners praised the qualities of their boat for such a voyage, and assured us that they would not have chosen another. Another unit, after two seasons in the North Sea, reached the United States last summer, taking the "Viking Route" through the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland. The other units are currently sailing in Europe and the Mediterranean.

A new hard top + hardtop package

‍Alluresis therefore offering a new vintage of this model from April 2025, featuring an optional new hard top design combined with a hardtop. The whole is more rounded, but still just as protective, ensuring full headroom in the cockpit as you exit the descent. It's the ideal equipment for keeping watch, well protected from wind and sea spray. It's also ideal at anchor, for shelter from prevailing winds and the sun, while maintaining an unobstructed view of your surroundings.

The new hardtop also features a textile sunroof.

‍Anew rig with in-boom furler on aluminum or carbon mast

‍Ondeck, in addition to the classic aluminum furling mainsail rig in the mast, this new vintage offers an optional Furling Boom mainsail rig. Full batten, the mainsail has a positive leech and gains 9 m² of surface area. A carbon mast with in-boom furling mainsail is also available as an option.

It gains a little more surface area, but above all, it's the weight savings in the upper section, which limits pitching, that will be appreciated, especially by new tourdumondists from the world of regattas, who are looking for even more performance.

A new, more classic interior design

‍Inthe interior, with design by Isabelle Racoupeau, the new vintage of theAllures 51.9 also offers a new ambience with darker woodwork, in addition to the light ambience. This proposal will appeal to lovers of more classic interiors.

‍ To bediscovered, or rediscovered, at the forthcoming Cannes Yachting Festival 2025.

Theallures 51.9 features a large, light, central volume with no partition.

Test Allures 45.9 sport version: a traveler in a hurry

Voile & Moteur magazine has published a detailed test of theAllures 45.9, a significant evolution of the Cherbourg-based shipyard's iconic model.
30/9/2022
min

The article recalls that theAllures 45.9 follows on from the first model launched in 2004, the Allures 44, while introducing some notable innovations. In this "Perf" version, the yacht adopts an Axxon Composite carbon mast and rig, combined with D4 membrane sails. This configuration lightened the boat by two tons, improved handling under sail and offered greater comfort both at sea and at anchor.

The test highlights the quality of the aluminum hull, the composite deck layout and the clear interior layout, designed for long-distance cruising. The T-shaped cockpit, spacious and secure, receives particular attention, as do the numerous stowage spaces and access to technical areas, a guarantee of safety and practicality for blue water cruising.

In terms of performance, the magazine measures a speed of 7 knots upwind in 11 to 12 knots of true wind, confirming the gains made by this new configuration. Without transforming theAllures 45.9 into a racing yacht, the Performance version impresses with its balance, stiffness and ability to climb upwind efficiently.

Particular emphasis was placed on the Grand Large Yachting group's growth dynamic, linked to strong commercial success and the need to recruit many new skills to strengthen the shipyard's teams.

Speakers also addressed the specific characteristics of the Cherbourg-en-Cotentin region, which boasts leading expertise in shipbuilding, but is also under considerable pressure in the industrial job market.

A memorable circumnavigation

A fleet of 32 boats, with over 100 crew members, 13 nationalities and 2 dogs, left the Canaries in October for a 3-year adventure around the globe. Organized by Grand Large Yachting , the world leader in blue water cruising.
2/11/2021
min

This milestone anniversary has led Grand Large Yachting to organize its first-ever round-the-world rallie , and to give blue water cruising enthusiasts the opportunity to write their own history, inspired by the journeys of legendary explorers.

The project attracted participants from all over the world, including Canada, the USA, Brazil and Australia, as well as several European countries.

To make the event accessible to sailors of different experience levels, Jimmy Cornell and the Grand Large Yachting team have carefully designed two routes for this circumnavigation: a tropical maritime route, that of the trade winds and traditional trade, which will use the Panama Canal, and a southern route, more faithful to Magellan's original voyage, via Patagonia and the strait to which he gave his name. These two routes will converge in Tahiti, where the whole fleet will sail together for the rest of the rallie.

"As a company, our mission is to enable anyone, experienced sailor or not, to realize their dream of blue water cruising with respect for the oceans, by offering them the safety, serenity, and assistance they need at every stage of their project. We're delighted to be able to make this a reality by giving our sailors the opportunity to travel around the world with the support of a group that provides not only a boat, but also the training and services that go with it, to guarantee a safe and memorable experience.

What makes this so special is that, as part of the official events commemorating the 500th anniversary of the first circumnavigation of the globe, we're connecting people who share the same passion, and who are about to enjoy the experience of a lifetime together. We can't wait to embark on this fabulous journey with everyone involved," enthuses Xavier Desmarest, co-founder of the Grand Large Yachting group.

In keeping with Grand Large Yachting's philosophy, the voyage will take place over three years, at a pace conducive to the discovery of local countries and cultures, with numerous stopovers, some of them in the world's most beautiful places. On September 27, 15 of the 32 boats set sail together from La Grande Motte for Seville, the city from which Magellan's fleet set sail in 1519.

The crews met up again at the end of October for a week of visits and festivities, culminating in a special ceremony at Seville's Comandancia Naval, where Jimmy Cornell received the Cross of Naval Merit, the highest civilian distinction awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Defense, in recognition of his involvement in highlighting the maritime exploit that was this 1st round-the-world expedition.

Before leaving Seville, the crews were invited to light a candle in a symbolic ceremony at the church of Santa Ana, where Magellan and his crew were blessed 500 years earlier. The fleet of five Allures yachts set sail early on Sunday, October 24, bound for Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands, where the official start of the rallie will take place on November 21.

In this context, we are deliberately focusing on the theme of hedonism, in the sense of seeking out the pleasures and sensations that can be derived from having a pleasant, functional galley on board the 51.9, an ultra-connected environment, an audiophile-standard music reproduction system, a tempered wine cellar and a cockpit saloon that is very welcoming in all circumstances.

So, in parallel with this development logic, and in order to enhance the experience of users of theAllures 51.9we have asked chef Emmanuel Tessier to help us finalize the cooking of this model, making it a receptacle for exclusive marine flavors, enhanced by the scents and tastes of Roellinger spices. Finally, from a commercial point of view, the distribution of theAllures 51.9 continues with French and foreign customers. We will continue to keep you informed of these developments, with the launch of unit #1 scheduled for late winter 2021.

Allures yachts allow you to aim for a sailing program tailored to your needs, on all the seas of the globe. Likewise, they are designed to offer you moments of plenitude, favoring the perception of privileged atmospheres and sensations. For example, chef Emmanuel Tessier, based in Cancale (22), is helping to finalize the galley of the Allures 51.9, the flagship of the Allures Yachting range, to make it a receptacle for exclusive marine flavors enhanced by Roellinger spices.

The shipyard's crews were able to appreciate a particularly pleasant behavior under sail, with remarkable smoothness of helm and maneuverability facilitated by its Twin rudders design.

To mark the occasion, marine photographer Jean-Marie Liot shot a photo session, which we've included in the slideshow below.
