Allures Horizon 47: First Images and Sea Trials

Unveiled at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, the Allures Horizon 47 completed its first sea trials in September 2026. The first photographs now show the yacht under sail, along with initial speed readings and feedback from the crew.

Designed by Berret-Racoupeau, the Horizon 47 retains the defining features of an Allures yacht:an aluminium hull, composite deck, centerboard and twin rudders. It also features a new deck layout designed to make life aboard easier.

The Horizon Frame Concept®

‍

Designed by Olivier Racoupeau, the Horizon Frame Concept® combines three distinctive features.

  • Lowered side decks sit flush with the cockpit, making it easier to move forward.
  • The 40 centimeter (approximately 16-inch) bulwarks provides additional protection along the deck.
  • A cutout in the bulwark, aligned with the large coachroof windows, preserves views of the sea from the salon and navigation station.

Together, these features make it easier to move around the deck while maintaining clear views from the living spaces.

A full-width cockpit

‍

The cockpit is protected by its coamings, rigid sprayhood and hardtop. The main sailing controls are grouped near the helm stations, with two winches on each side.

Sheltered watchkeeping seats provide good forward visibility, with the instruments in sight.

‍

The full-width cockpit allows the helmsman to steer from either the windward or leeward side - a feature the crew particularly appreciated during the first sea trials.

First Sea Trials: Speed and Helm Response

‍

On September 22, the Horizon 47 sailed in calm seas, with 13 to 14 knots of true wind. Several sail configurations were tested.

  • Under 100%mainsail , and solent jib , the boat recorded a speed of 6.5 knots at 50° to the wind, with a true wind speed of 14 knots.
  • With the mainsail and Code 0, it recorded 7.8 knots at 90° to the true wind, in 13 knots of true wind.

The crew particularly appreciated the feel at the helm.

“The helm is light and responsive. And with the full-width cockpit, steering is just as enjoyable from windward as it is from leeward.” Alban Vigner — New Boat Project Manager — Allures Yachting
